Fur Garment Care
- your fur coat, shawl or vest should be hung on a wide, sturdy, padded hanger to ensure it does not lose its shape
- avoid using chemicals on or around your fur, including perfume, hairspray and makeup – perfume contains alcohol, which can dry your pelts. Once a perfume gets into your fur- it will be there to stay
- shake out the fur garment regularly
- attend to spills and stains as quickly as possible
- simply wiping the fur or leather with a damp cloth will remove most dirt or grime
- use a wire brush to maintain and restore the natural soft and fluffy appearance of fur
- when wet place your fur garment in a well ventilated area away from heat sources and direct sunlight. It is extremely important to allow your fur garment to air dry naturally.
- your fur garment should be professionally cleaned yearly.
Cashmere Cape Care
The soft touch of elegant cashmere is luxurious. You'll want to preserve its exquisite look and feel as long as you possibly can. Cashmere requires special handling and care to preserve this delicate wool knit.Spot Wash
- hand wash in cold water ONLY
- use a mild, unscented, bleach free detergent
- avoid washing fur trim – this will damage the fur completely
- treat stains immediately with cold water and mild soap
- use a soft cold cloth to gently rub the stain with the soap
Keep Flat
- keep cashmere on a flat surface during the cleaning process to avoid wrinkling or stretching
- wringing, twisting, or hanging to dry will also damage to the delicate cashmere fibers
Air Dry
- do not hang to dry or machine dry – this will misshape your cashmere
- lay damp cashmere flat on a clean and protected surface for a natural dry
Storage
- fur garments should be stored in cold, dark, well ventilated areas
- do not store in plastic packaging for any extended period of time as condensation may occur
- avoid storing your fur near heat sources or direct sunlight, this will fade and damage your fur
- do not store your fur garment in a cedar closet or cedar chest
- the oils in the cedar will damage the fur and cedar will absorb the necessary moisture in the hide, leaving the fur dry
- do not expose your fur garment to mothballs, they will react with the natural oils in your fur and damage your fur
