Knit fur refers to the specific design of a garment. Pelts are hand cut in to a long strip and made in to a durable fur yarn. Once the fur yarn is created the traditional process of wool knitting is followed for the fur garment. Fur yarn is extremely strong and the woven design makes for a resilient piece. Rex Rabbits were discovered in France around 1920 and brought to the United States in 1924. Rex Rabbit fur is unique from other rabbit furs because it features velvet like feel and it does not shed. The rex rabbit has short and thick fur that stands straight up. This fur is extremely soft and warm making it perfect for garments such as coats or hats. Rex Rabbit fur is more frequently seen on luxury fur coats because of its plush, dense texture and light weight.
