Mouton sheepskin refers to sheepskin that has been processed to resemble beaver or seal fur. Lamb's wool is straightened, then treated to produce a highly soft, durable, water repellent finish. Mouton is often dyed brown, grey or black to look like sheared beaver or seal. It's extremely plush and it features a soft, velvet-like feel. It’s frequently used to produce Russian style Ushanka and Cossack hats.
